How quickly time passes. This year has been a blur as a mother of three small children under the age of five. Considering all the changes that we have made with a new baby and a new home, we have managed to create some balance in the life of a family of five. With all those changes, there has been little time for date nights or romantic getaways in Florida…or beyond. I can remember the last night I had a full nights sleep, the last joyous meal that was uninterrupted, the last time we had a day meandering, exploring, with nothing more than ourselves to be concerned with. It was our lovely babymoon that we took at The Boca Raton Resort & Club, A Waldorf Astoria Resort.
This is a hosted post. We received a free stay in exchange of a review. All opinions are my own.
Why This Was the Perfect Romantic Getaway in Florida?
The Boca Raton Resort & Club, A Waldorf Astoria Resort is less than 20 miles from where we live. I love Boca Raton and would travel here for the beautiful beaches and the feeling of being in the Mediterranean in the United States, even if we didn’t live here. I adore the architecture, the sea breezes, and sitting outdoor at cafes. The Boca Resort & Club lends itself to all those things and brings luxury into the mix. Luxury and romance are not mutually exclusive, but they go hand in hand for me.
The Resort & Club
The Boca Raton Resort & Club was originally built in 1926 by famous Boca Raton developer Addison Mizner. According to the Boca Raton Historical Society, Mizner aspired to create “the world’s most architecturally beautiful playground” and the main building of the Boca Raton Resort & Club is one example of his dreams.
At the Boca Raton Resort & Club, A Waldorf Astoria Resort you can enjoy a world-class spa, 2 championship golf course, tennis, a boat ride over the intercostal to the Boca Beach Club for swimming and relaxing and spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. For the more adventurous, take surf lessons at the Surf House or catch a wave at the Flow House Boca on the FlowRider. If leisure is more your speed, there is art, history, and beautiful views to relax among at every corner. There are a variety of dining options at both the Boca Raton Resort and the Boca Beach Club.
The Grounds
I loved strolling through the resort. Since I was very pregnant at the time of our visit and we were experiencing a cold snap here in Florida, swimming in one of the many pools was not an option. Instead, exploring all the nooks and crannies of this historic building was really exciting for me.
Otherwise, I would certainly be at the Boca Beach Club, sitting in the sun and sand, reading a good book.
If your stay happens to coincide with the 2nd or 4th Tuesday of the month, you can join a guided tour with the Boca Historical Society at the Resort. There also is the Baker Sponder Gallery Tour of the Artwork housed in the Cloister building, on Mondays and Thursdays. (Require within).
The Room
There are 5 different choices in accommodations at the Boca Raton Resort & Club. Our room for the weekend was located in the Cloister building of the resort. The room had been recently renovated and had a chic modern design. I particularly enjoyed the very comfortable bed, the peaceful nights rest, and the private balcony overlooking the main entrance of the resort.
The Food
There are a lot of choices in dining at The Boca Raton Resort & Club. Pop in for Frozen Hot Chocolate and other sweet treats at Serendipity or sit down for World Famous Sushi at Morimoto. We dined at Mediterranean Restaurant Lucca featuring Tuscan cuisine in a warm and intimate dining room.
The food at Lucca warmed the soul. The atmosphere was the cozy in the way that lends itself to romance. The food at Lucca is seasonal, so you can expect the menu to change every few months. I remember the polenta and the meatball being to die for.
The Boca Raton Resort & Club hosts special events for most major holidays, many are very kid friendly. They also offer great deals throughout the year that many of my friends take advantage for staycations. In addition to a romantic getaway in Florida, I think it would be an awesome weekend for my entire family to splash around the pools and enjoy the beaches.

I have not been at Boca Raton resort and club but would love to go there. It looks like a great and relaxing place for a romantic getaway 😀 I will keep that in mind when I visit Florida 😀 Thank you for sharing this 😀
Romantic, Single, or Family – I think it has something for everyone. Who doesn’t love the beach?
The views and architecture of the resort are gorgeous!
They really are. There are a lot of these grand Mediterranean style hotels and buildings from the 1920s all over Florida. I Want to go to them all.
My husband and I went there for our 10 year wedding anniversary. We were given a room in the tower. THE ROOM WAS OLD AND WAS A COMPLETE LETDOWN. The room had paint missing from the walls, the furniture was old, the carpet old, the bathroom fixtures old. They seriously need to remodel the tower. At least we had a great view and enjoyed the spa very much. The spa was great! I contacted the hotel about our bad experience and they never got back to me.
What a bummer? I am sorry you had that experience. I know they did a huge refurbishment to the rooms a couple years back. Ours was really fresh and clean.
