Disney World isn’t only the “Happiest Place on Earth” it can also be quite romantic. Many lovebirds take trips for honeymoons and anniversaries, even getting engaged and married at Walt Disney World. Strolling through Main Street U.S.A hand-in-hand, watching a fireworks display with your loved one by your side is a great way to experience Disney romance. Sharing a table for two in a lowly lit room with music playing is even more magical at Disney than the typical date night of dinner and movies back home.
Even though we have never been to Disney without our children, we have been lucky to have my Mom with us during visits. One particular trip, she opted for pizza in the resort room with the kids. Sean and I went to California Grill for cocktails, sushi, and fireworks. It was super nice to enjoy a slow meal together, to experience our own Disney Romance, and connect. We even saw a marriage proposal, and I might have cried.
My Top 3 Suggestions for Dining & Enjoying Disney Romance
1). California Grill
At the top of the Contemporary Hotel – Recently renovated and redesigned, the California Grill offers a large wine selection, signature cocktails, sushi, and delicious entrees, The view of the Magic Kingdom during the firework show makes the price tag worth it. Make reservations an hour before the Firework show, with music piped in you can watch from your table or from one of the two outdoor balconies and feel like you are standing in front of Cinderella’s Castle without the crowd. Tip: If you can’t get reservations surrounding the time of the fireworks, you can dine at California Grill earlier in the day and you will still have access to take the elevator up to watch the fireworks. See the menu, here.
2). Le Cellier Steakhouse
In Epcot’s Canada Pavillion – This typical steakhouse is one of the hardest reservations to get. It constantly makes the top restaurant’s list on “Best Restaurants to Eat at in Disney World”. We have never eaten here, but imagine there must be a reason for the wait and the accolades. Tip: If you can’t get a reservation here, The Yachtsman at the Yacht Club Resort would be a good alternative. See the menu for Le Cellier, here.
3). Victoria & Albert’s
Located at The Grand Floridian Resort & Spa – The ultimate in Disney Dining, romance, and extravagance, the 7 course prix-fixe menu with optional wine pairing requires cocktail attire, and kids are not permitted. There is also the Queen Victoria Table and Chef Table that offer a 10 course meal with very limited seating. Tip: If a stroll on the beach is a cherry on top in the romance category, The Grand Floridian has a private beach and lovely grounds to explore after you dine. See the menu, here.
Whether you are visiting Disney with your one-and-only, or you are able to get away from the kids to share in the magic with your sweetheart, make sure to get reservations for any of these restaurants well in advance, as they book quite quickly. There are options for in-room babysitting and childcare centers at select resorts as well, details here.
